Our farm near Thirumazhisai
Where and when
Our farm is near Thirumazhisai, west of Chennai, in Tiruvallur district. Its rooms were fitted out between June and September 2026, with water treatment, insulation, cooling, humidifiers and ventilation. The first pinheads appeared on 2 August 2026, and the first harvest followed that month.
Inside the rooms
The rooms are insulated with sandwich panels and lined with steel racks. Our grow bags hang from the shelves on rope loops, a method the farm worked out for itself.
A morning at the farm
Harvest starts at about six in the morning. The mushrooms are picked by hand and picked dry, graded by size, packed by hand into 200 g punnets, labelled and chilled.
Our standards
Mushrooms are picked dry. Anyone harvesting or packing wears a head cover. If a harvest is not good enough, it is not sold.
