Val Techfarms Chennai

Val Techfarms Chennai grows fresh oyster mushrooms near Chennai. Chennai is too hot for oyster mushrooms to fruit well in the open, so ours grow indoors, in insulated rooms that are cooled, misted and ventilated. We make our own grow bags on the farm, pick by hand early in the morning, and supply trade buyers in Chennai.
Every morning, each room’s temperature, humidity and CO₂ are read with a handheld meter and logged.

We soak wood pellets, mix in spawn and seal each bag by hand, then hang the bags from the racks on rope loops, a method the farm worked out for itself.

Harvest starts at about six in the morning. The mushrooms are graded, packed by hand into 200 g punnets, labelled and chilled.
